SIKA – Work and safety footwear developed for industry-specific requirements with a focus on fit and comfort.

Sika Footwear's own brand, SIKA, is the result of over 150 years of experience in the development and production of work and safety footwear for the food and pharmaceutical industries, HORECA, service and cleaning sectors, and hospital and care sectors.

Work shoes are not just shoes. They must suit the work being performed, and the feet wearing them. Through generations, we have developed and refined our production process to ensure that your feet are well protected and that the shoes are comfortable to wear, even on long working days. Therefore, SIKA is your guarantee for high comfort and safety. With SIKA on your feet, you can concentrate on the work you need to perform, without worrying about the well-being of your feet.

Our quality, your safety.

Different jobs require different shoes.

No industries have the same needs and requirements for footwear. Sika Footwear has developed, and continues to develop, many different shoe series, so you can always find a SIKA shoe that fits your specific work.

Several of the shoe series are manufactured with the aim of meeting the specific requirements of the workplaces you face in your job. This may be requirements for slip-resistant properties or for a surface that is easy to clean, especially in environments with high hygiene standards.

Footwear for work must fit your foot.

One thing is to choose the right shoe for the environment and the industry you work in, another is to choose the shoe that fits your specific foot.

Work footwear must fit properly on the foot. It is important that the shoe is shaped after and fits the foot wearing it. Different foot shapes and challenges, such as fallen arches or a bunion, require that the footwear you wear for many hours daily, fits and accounts for these. A good indicator that the shoe fits is that it sits tightly around the heel, can be laced tightly around the midfoot, yet still provides space around the toes.

The importance of proper shoe fit for your well-being and safety

The consequence of wearing shoes that do not fit your foot is, in short, that you compromise your own daily well-being and, not least, your safety. When the shoe does not fit, and does not sit tightly to the foot, you risk your feet sliding around in the shoes, and you will increase your risk of instability. You also risk exhausting the muscles in the foot that attach to the lower leg, as the muscles must exert effort to 'move the shoe along' when it does not sit tightly to the foot.

Incorrect footwear that does not fit can shift the load on the foot, and this load can propagate up through the body to other places in the body. This can create inappropriate challenges elsewhere in the body such as in the knees or hips, precisely because the muscle load changes, and therefore other muscles, which have a different primary function, have to work harder.

In this way, footwear that is not optimal for your foot can inappropriately strain the body with the possibility of pain and overuse injuries.

Another risk, when the shoe does not fit properly on the foot, is that the contact with the ground is not optimal. This can mean an increased risk of slip or fall accidents. In this article, you can read more about the parameters that are important in preventing slips and falls at the workplace: Preventing fall accidents at work.

The fit of the footwear, therefore, has essential importance for your well-being and for preventing challenges, pains, or, in the worst case, overuse injuries elsewhere in the body.

With the right footwear, which fits both your foot and the environment you work in, you provide the best conditions for a comfortable workday without pain or discomfort in feet and legs, and at the same time, you prevent injuries and slip and fall accidents.
